Caulmert can help North Wales businesses turn investment plans into reality

An engineering, environmental, and planning consultancy is encouraging businesses across North Wales to consider how grant funding could boost investment in growth, productivity, and sustainability.

Caulmert, which has offices in Bangor and St Asaph, is offering a grant delivery support service to help companies navigate these requirements, bringing together its expertise to assist schemes from initial feasibility through to implementation.

The latest offering is the Local Growth Fund, launched by the UK Government in April 2026 to replace the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to drive regional productivity and economic development.

Provided through organisations including Cadwyn Clwyd, it backs eligible companies undertaking capital investment projects. These may include factory expansions, manufacturing upgrades, site redevelopment, new premises, solar PV installations, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Identifying specific requirements early can address potential constraints, establish a realistic programme, and support delivery.

Caulmert’s head of planning and environmental, Steve Ottewell, said: “Securing grant funding can be an important step for businesses looking to invest in their future but turning that investment into a deliverable project requires careful attention.

“Planning requirements, environmental considerations, and technical constraints can all influence how a scheme progresses. Identifying these early can help companies make informed decisions, anticipate potential challenges, and plan with greater confidence.”

Caulmert is offering tailored assistance throughout the project lifecycle. Early-stage support can include feasibility studies and site assessments to identify constraints, assess potential risks, and establish the practical requirements of a proposed development.

As projects progress, the consultancy can provide planning and environmental advice, including applications, drainage, transport, and ecology requirements where applicable.

Its engineering expertise can also aid the development of technical designs and solutions, while project management and other relevant services can help coordinate delivery.

Steve added: “Every project has different requirements, and there is no single approach that will suit every business.

“By bringing planning, environmental, and engineering expertise together, we can make clients understand what is needed at each stage and identify the right support for their project.

“Our aim is to help companies navigate the process, address challenges early, and turn their investment plans into deliverable schemes.”
