£870,000+ Investment Powers Community Impact Across Denbighshire

More than £870,000 has been invested into the voluntary sector in Denbighshire through the DVSC Key Fund, supporting 51 organisations to strengthen services, expand their reach and respond to growing community need.

The highly competitive programme attracted 99 applications, underlining both the demand for funding and the vital role local organisations play in supporting people and communities.

A total of £871,620 was distributed over the past year, including £212,114 in capital funding for buildings, equipment and long-term infrastructure, alongside £659,506 in revenue funding to sustain and grow frontline services. Of the projects supported, six focused on capital development and 45 on service delivery.

The impact of this investment was celebrated at a Key Fund event in Ruthin, bringing together funded organisations, volunteers and partners to share learning and highlight the difference the programme has made on the ground.

Held at St Peter’s Church, the event showcased how funding has enabled organisations to reach new audiences, strengthen local networks and deliver more responsive, community-led support.

Janine Downing, Chief Officer of DVSC, said:
“It is always inspiring to bring organisations and people together and celebrate the real life impact the funding we have administered has had across Denbighshire.

“The voluntary sector can provide exciting opportunities to support our communities, but it is essential they themselves are given the right support to be resilient and sustainable which allows them to continue to deliver real impact – the Key Fund has allowed us to provide that support in a unique way.”

Attendees heard directly from funded groups during a Q&A session following the premiere of DVSC’s Key Fund films, which highlighted the transformative role of investment in enabling local solutions.

The event also featured guest speaker Rob Dalton, founder of Daltonwood, who explored the role of creativity in supporting wellbeing and strengthening connections between people and place.

The afternoon was hosted by television presenter and podcaster Gareth ‘Gaz Top’ Jones, with catering provided by guest chef Marc Macauley.

DVSC Chair Chris Ruane added:
“The success of the Key Fund highlights both the demand for support and the incredible impact the voluntary sector delivers every day.

“By investing in these organisations, we are investing in the future wellbeing and resilience of communities across Denbighshire.”

DVSC extended its thanks to all funded organisations, partners and supporters who contributed to the success of the programme and celebration event.

Investment in local voluntary organisations remains a cornerstone of DVSC’s work, helping to build resilience, sustain essential services and enable communities to respond to increasing demand.

Since launching in September 2023, the Key Fund has awarded more than £2.27 million to 132 organisations, demonstrating the scale of impact targeted funding can achieve.
